The most popular islands for a relaxed sun escape are Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. Both destinations are famed for their white sands and captivating landscapes, including the sand dunes of Fuerteventura. Walking & Golfing In The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands offer perfect weather all year round, so it is no surprise that the islands are a popular choice during winter amongst travellers who like walking and activity holidays. If you are searching for a golfing holiday then Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and Gran Canaria are your islands, however, if you prefer walking then Tenerife and La Gomera are more favourable.

Fuerteventura & Beach Escapes

Fuerteventura is the closest island to Africa and is the second largest Canary Island. With 3,000 hours of sunshine, this island holds a similar climate to the likes of Florida and Mexico and is a popular break for some winter sunshine on a golfing holiday. Alternatively, take a stroll on the mile long beaches that grace the coastline and even take up a new sport! Fuerteventura holds the annual kitesurfing and windsurfing World Cup competitions – hence the island’s nickname ‘The Great Adventure’!

The Towns Of Fuerteventura

A popular resort on the island includes Corralejo, a quaint old town with a selection of shops, bars and restaurants, however after dark this resort springs to life offering live music and cocktails in most bars! This particular resort is also famous for it’s sand dunes and is right on the doorstep of the Corralejo National Park which is worth a visit. If you fancy visiting another Canary Island for the day, you can hop on a ferry to Lanzarote from here – it’s only 1 hour away.
